Great videos guy's!!!
This is my first time on your channel. Loving the video. So sad to see so much family history and history in general being neglected. I would give just about anything to have my family history preserved like that. It's a shame none of her family seem to think those things worth keeping. You can tell this lady was family oriented with how many albums she had out. She probably did a lot of reminiscing. How wonderful it would be if her family saw this video and rescued these treasures.
Root Beer is made from the Sassafrass tree. Old sasperilla. It is very good for you. The poem meant they were thankful….to have food. It wasn't disrespectful . It was being thankful. The lady had been too old to can her food for a long time. My mother had a washing machine like that. I love this house. Everything still works. Amazing
Why didn't the children at least take the personal possessions? That is so crazy.
Where is owner?
I have always been interested in seeing how other people live as well as in all types of buildings and items of different eras. I'm so glad that you are able to show us these lost and forgotten treasures but at the same time it saddens me to see that the heirs to the family have not claimed their real estate or personal property. I would like to know how you are able to access these properties and if you did so legally or illegally. Either way it is worth it and by no one better than you and your brother as you do so with much amazement, care and respect.
Very good video
Beautiful house most be beautiful woman and kids.
I hope that people will explore my old home when I’m long gone and show everyone my life and produce wonderful videos in remembrance of me rather than my home sitting and decaying alone and forgotten forever.
I bet she was Pennsylvanian Dutch. They used German Bibles i think
the part about the flag, i cannot stand politics or the powers that be, im not patriotic for them, im patriotic for this beautiful land that allows so many to pursue happiness, freedom for all, the dream
A commode..the chair toilet
It's mad no ones moved in. Free electricity!
So much to say about this video!
I’m thrilled that you are in the US!
You missed another vacuum, I think. When you sat in her recliner, there was something on your left in the corner.
Life was a general magazine about news as well as people.
Sears Catalogue. Yes, the Amazon of it’s day. They actually sold kits to build a HOUSE! There is one still standing in my town, Boiling Springs, South Carolina. Several years ago it was moved carefully about a mile away from it’s original site, to get it off of the Main Street of Boiling Springs. It’s still occupied but it would be a very cool thing for you to document.
Yes, Pennsylvania is very German.
The word you didn’t know the meaning of was Bicentennial. Meaning 2 hundred years. It was dated 1976, the 2 hundredth year of the US. That was the year after I graduated from high school and was a very big celebration all year long everywhere in the US.
In the US, if there is a covering over the floor that goes all the way to the walls and is tacked down at the edges, it is called carpet, or carpeting. Old fashioned term was literally “wall-to-wall carpeting”. If it’s a covering that just lies on the floor and you can see the wood or tile around the edges against the walls, it’s a rug or an area rug.
I love watching you explore the past.
My kids think I’m a hoarder. But I am actually a PRESERVATIONIST with a lot of inventory and a lot of hobbies. I want you to explore my house when I’m gone (in another 20-30 years)
Esa maquina se usa para los pisos de madera despues de encerarlos para sacar brillo.no es aspiradora.es muy linda la casa.solo limpiarla y esta habitable.con un jardin quedaria mejor, saludos.
25:02 on this video: Pronounced Buy- sen- ten – eee- ul. Official Bicentennial events culminated on July 4, 1976, the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The United States Bicentennial was a series of celebrations and observances during the mid-1970s that paid tribute to historical events leading up to the creation of the United States of America as an independent republic. It was a central event in the memory of the American Revolution. Next event: Semiquincentennial (2026)
28:50 I learned how to type on a manual typewriter, then electric typewriter. Doing it that way made typing so much easier on the electric one! That is older than a couple of decades, guys. That’s from like the 50s through 70s era.
I live in Canada and my dad always had a Farmers Almanac in the house and we lived in the city. Alot of people use them to see what the weather will be in the upcoming seasons.
You should have had a closer look on that Bible, often there is names on the first pages, of Births and marriages.
When you get old in USA, they have an option to put you in facility of care. You can't bring the entire house with you, just the necessities though. Someone still owns that house but can't be there 24/7. Look it up in the assesors office, you will be surprised!
tv won't work without cable—–that kitchen poem meant that GOD blessed them with food every day to eat and they were thanking him 4 it
Many many families in this country have Old Farmers Almanacs. It’s so much more than just farming tips. It has long term weather forecasts, full moon guides, tides, gardening tips etc. I could just listen to you talk and describe probably anything. You speak with such care and genuine interest. Not to mention that wonderful accent.
I just don't understand why the family doesn't clean out the house… sell, donate or throw away what they don't want… Those family/historic photos should be given to the grandchildren and preserved…
So sad to see ;(
Love watching your videos,,take care always,,wear protection please
Yes we do know Metrics will I do hehe state of Michigan USA.
The tin photos are from the 1800s and 1900.
The washer is from the 1950.
Alhamdullillah.muslims mai family humesha sath rehti hai or ghar k old persons ka khyal rakhte hain humesha . Koi tanha nhi hota last age mai apni .
If your Camera man doesn't like Americans he should keep it to himself. Why would he say Americans can't understand a Merit Scale? They know what kilograms are. (42:29) you should be ashamed of yourself. I think you may want to think about who is watching.
@0:32 : That's a 48 star American fla which were used from July 4, 1912, to July 3, 1959. They're not rare, but it is old!
@13:54 : The Farmers Almanac: Most older people bought them , not just for the farming tables, but for the weather. The Almanac was pretty spot on when it came to weather forecasts!
@2:21 : The plaque is a poem about being thankful that you have enough to eat, so don't complain about having to do the dishes.
I love the fact you put everything back as it was . This shows much respect for the family. Also I thank you for using clean words. My daughter watches with me from time to time. Most people don't seem to care anymore with what they say or do. You keep me watching over and over with all.the interesting places you go. Keep up the phenomenal work!
restore thes homes
It seems all very very well preserved. This is a special find…because she's only been gone 10 years, but it looks like she kept maintaining her home just as it had been since the 1940's – 1950's. She must have handled all these things with great care. An excellent look at how people from the generation of the great depression lived, prepared and endured. A real time capsule.
Although I have only just recently found your videos I am already in love with them and it's nice to see explorers not damage anything and tell a amazing story.
I could adopt you guys. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and it made my day. Your trying out the vacuum cleaner was the most entertaining. Thanks for such a great video! Merry Christmas!!!!!
Unless your love in New York there is rats but not everywhere in the United States
I would love to own this
Those are canning jars in the basement, they probably had gardens every year and used those and the Farmers Almanac to go by to know what to plant and when.
That was a potty chair and a transistor radio, battery powered.
How is the power still on?
I like how you examine most all of the pieces as well. A lot of people are more interested in the structure and skip over a lot of neat stuff sitting around.
