If you want a better (in my opinion) version, use the luxardo cherry juice that you pull the cherry out of instead of the simple syrup to add the sweetness and your left with more flavor

Things wrong. Awkwardly holds bitter bottle, simple instead of demerara, under poured 2 ounces, poor ice quality, not enough ice to stir, not stirred long enough, glassware not ready, cloudy big cube, didnt express orange peel well, poorly placed garnish, no cherry on pick

I feel like there are two teams here, old fashioned on the rock and this method.
I personally prefer it on the rock because of limited dilution, but this version is a little smoother.

It's interesting to see the way other bartenders make old fashions, especially the amount of alcohol. We do 2oz of the bourbon/whiskey but I understand the reason why some places do 1.5 oz

If the video Is demostration only, it's fine but that was very little stiro right there, i don't even kmow if that was enough to chill the drink l'et alone dilute it. I can pass over not using a sugar cube because then making the drink becames very slow but if someone tries to replicate this, please stir It more

The ice didn’t bug me all that much .. but he just twist the orange peel and didn’t rub it on the rim of the glass .. one small step , but it makes the difference trust me ..

Me: step one, sugar cube
Step two, two dashes aromatic bitters two dashes orange bitters
Step three: large ice cube
Step four: bourbon
Step five: stir right 30 seconds stir left 30 seconds
Step six: express orange wipe around rim curl and slide down inbetween glass and cube
Step seven: toss guests preferred amount of amaretto or lux cherry(s) if it wasnt expressed one is good.
Pro tip, most old fashioned enthusiasts love granulated sugar over simple syrup, also if you use simple don't add 2.5oz..one ounce is enough. You can even use maple syrup.
Pro tip two: if you accidentally added the bourbon before the ice cube, drop it in with your bar spoon to lower it down in the glass so it doesn't splash, especially if you're working in a speak easy style bar with a tie.
Other then the above, speed was good, memory of movements were good. But elegance and quality mean more with this specific drink.
