What's the least expensive way I can have decent cappuccino and such at home, including the "barista tingles"? The Bellman (Taylor & Ng) CX-25P fails the tingles. How close is it for espresso though?

I have seen many videos of macchiato and this is the right macchiato I have seen
Even assuming perfect espresso and perfect milk, nothing changes the fact that a “wet” macchiato is a latte. Macchiato means “marked,” in Italian, and the idea is 2 or 3 drops of milk. Even the dollop is pushing it. It’s one thing to do what you want, call it what you want, freedom baby, and all that. It’s quite another for people who like hot milk to pretend they are drinking coffee.
So if you tried to do art with the macchiato it will turn to cortado
The dry macchiato is my absolute favorite coffee drink. Discovered it when I spent time in Melbourne where they call it a “short macc” if I remember correctly. The tiny bit of milk really elevates the drink without drowning out the lovely espresso underneath. It’s my go to drink to test a new coffee bar or barista. If they nail this drink they can do them all.
Predosing your beans results in severe popcorning towards the end of the grind. James Hoffman did a bit on that some time ago. The weight of the additional beans acts like a cover and helps the feeding of the beans and results in a more homogeneous grind.

My understanding is 2:1 espresso and milk is the machiato, 1:1 espresso and milk is the cortado, 1:2 espresso and milk is the gibraltar, 1:4 espresso and milk is the cap, 1:6 + is the latte.
why doesn't third wave espresso use robusta?

New subscriber and been loving your channel so much! Couple quick questions, that I perhaps missed somewhere… Are you using the 3 oz LINO cups? And you're pulling a 36 gram shot? Would the ratio then be closer to 2:1 than 1:1 ? Machiattos are often my favorite drinks in cafes, but I've never fully understood how to make them properly at home (and certainly don't have the proper glassware) Thanks again!

Nice video my man. I like the term ‘wet macchiato’. When I’m teaching I usually show both examples and call them ‘traditional’ and ‘modern’. As long as it’s espresso with a small-ish amount of milk, you’re in the realm of what people perceive a macchiato to be.
