I love the simplicity of the set up and the design of the seat! But I do have one question – am I right in thinking that urine drains through the humus into the soakaway beneath? In the video you didn't cover how you built the soakaway – how deep, what materials etc.
Also if the wee is passing through the solids material it is technically black water as it will be contaminated with faecal bacteria. So, I wondered if there were any issues with local planning/building regulations?
My own experience is of a separating container based system as I live on a boat but I'm always interested to learn more about other systems as I am admin for a boat/RV/tiny home compost toilet group.

Are there holes in the bottom of the bucket of soil the black one that is ' resting'.? And where does the pee go? Into the ground below where one goes to the toilet?

I've been thinking of making a double bucket system. Drain holes on inner bucket to separate liquids and outer bucket has in/out air pipes and a fan to dry out the solids.
Love the concept, looking at changing my rv toilet, thank you for sharing it all. I assume when the bucket gets full you dump into a larger bucket to rest for 30-90 days before using in garden.

Please help. I searched & couldn't find not one off-grid (total-blackout) toilet solution for someone who lacks the strength for carpentry or for hauling big buckets of humus. I simply don't have strength for all that, nor the sort of environment shown in available videos. In other words, I don't have doors exiting to private outdoor grass. All my grass is very public & very rocky.
Dry soil would for many be difficult

and the pee that draines out fomthe bottom…?????
