Just because you take control over another culture does not mean it is the right thing to do to convert their holy sites in to your own. Yes, Christians did that and Muslins too, Communists and so on and so forth, however in our era in time where I think we can do more good by maintaining HISTORY to preserve the cultures of the past. We don't need anymore to erase other cultures as we all know where the world stands today we all know the Ottomans defeated Constantinople no one is bringing this in to question so it is a self defeating idea. Islam does not need to prove it is some powerful religion we all know it is, nothing needs to be proven. This is more of a battle between Secular Islam and religious Islam but that should not alter sites of history just to make a point. I don't think. Preserving history should always win. When humans lose history, we all lose a piece of our heritage no matter who won or lost it's not about the outcome.

There are thousands of mosques in Spain that have been converted into churches. Same is the case in Greece. Whoever rules the land, has the right to make the decision provided the structure is not an active place of worship. Hagia Sophia was just a museum recently and was not being used for worship. It was a mosque prior to that and Erdogan just made it back into a mosque, which is now being used for worship. The museum part still remains and only closes during prayers. Turkey has more than 500 churches that are untouched because they are being used for worship.
